What words end with /x/? Unite several alphabet concepts as scholars learn all about the letter x. After identifying it, they listen to you pronounce the /x/ sound and try it themselves (use these tips to explain how you do this). Brainstorm words with /x/ as an ending phoneme; do any pupils know someone whose name ends with this sound? Finally, play a fast-thinking letter recognition game. Point to letters written on the board one at a time; if you point to an x, the class says the sound. For all other letters, they stay silent. The pronunciation guide isn't very helpful here, but the letter cards may be.
