Serc: Mn Step: Seasonal Changes of a Tree

Curated by ACT

For this activity, students adopt a tree in the schoolyard and observe it throughout the year, recording the changes that they notice as the seasons pass. They will learn about the parts of the tree and notice how the tree is used by people and animals. Activities can be expanded to include stories, poems, and art. Includes suggestions for books to read and questions to ask students. At the end of the unit, the class takes a walk to count the trees in the immediate neighborhood and observe the animals that use them.
