Solar Kit Lesson #7 - Positioning Solar Panels I: Explorations with Tracking

In this first part of a two-part lesson, learners track and record the sun's azimuth using a solar panel. They graph and analyze the data to identify relationships among the time of day, the altitude and azimuth of the sun, and the position of the solar panel. The objective is to place the panel so that it will receive maximum solar energy. Detailed diagrams, procedures, and data tables are provided for both teacher and learners. Make sure to locate part two via Lesson Planet!

Lauren H.
I have used several hands-on lessons that have helped to engage my students in topics that may have been mundane to them. I do not have a text book or resources for many of the topics that I teach, and it is nice to find so many resources in one place.
