Sophia: Paper Writing: Research Paper: Topic Choice

Curated by ACT

This tutorial focuses on choosing a topic and narrowing or expanding the focus to fit the requirements for a research paper. It provides tips like clustering, using a Venn Diagram, Google Scholar, etc. to find and narrow the topic. It uses school violence as a sample topic and offers two YouTube videos on the subject: the first is from a TV episode and the second is a news report discussing a foiled plan for school violence. The point is that ideas can come from TV or news stories for topic ideas. Also terms are defined and the basic elements of a research paper are provided.
