Elementary schoolers sharpen their listening skills as they use sound maps, tallies, and line plots to organize and interpret data. Everyone takes a "sound walk," and focuses on the sounds around them. They chart and tabulate the sounds heard, then go back to class and construct a line plot. The fine instructional activity has terrific activities, worksheets, a rubric, and examples of student work embedded in it. Kids should really enjoy getting out into nature and listening in on all the action around them!
