Instructional Ideas

  • Remind class members to keep all related materials in their Health Smart binders
  • Post the Student Support on Campus and the Positive Coping Skills materials on the classroom wall
  • Have groups research and add information to the wall about support services in the community
  • Coordinate the lesson with a member of the counseling staff and have them note individuals who appear in distress

Classroom Considerations

  • Some learners may be uncomfortable participating in the lesson; therefore, the day before, identify the topic of the lesson and allow those individuals to stay after class to share their concerns with you
  • Class members must have access to devices with internet
  • Requires color copies of the posters

Pros

  • Includes suggestions for what to say and what not to say to someone who appears to need help
  • The lesson exit ticket has individuals indicate if they would like to talk to someone right away

Cons

  • The link to the Kahoot video does not work
