Summer Machines Activity: Cool Tools

Students examine and think about various tools in their surrounding environment to facilitate development of their primary observation and sorting skills. In this tool observation instructional activity, students first sort a variety of tools any way they like, explaining their reasoning of why certain items belong together. As a class, the students then decide on an appropriate location where each tool would belong (kitchen, garden, office, etc).

I was at a crossroads trying to think of a new… interesting… active way to introduce and teach the different types of economic systems. I turned to Lesson Planet and entered “Economic Systems” into the search tab and was inundated with resources and lesson plans and ideas… the kids loved the lesson I modified for them and still ask when we are going to do another lesson like that “Paper Airplane Company” one. Thanks Lesson Planet.
