Instructional Ideas

  • Hand the summer reading list out to your class at the end of the year to give them great book ideas
  • Use this as your own resource when individuals ask you what they should read next or when considering what to add to the class library
  • Post the list up on your wall for student reference
  • Coordinate with the department a grade above or below you to require learners to read a certain number of books over summer break

Classroom Considerations

  • For easily making black-and-white copies for each student, see the materials tab for a black-and-white version of the book list
  • While the list appears to have been made originally in a brochure style, it can easily be printed out and handed out or posted up flat

Pros

  • Includes different kinds of fiction, a few nonfiction choices, and graphic novels so that each individual can find something interesting to read
  • The list notes when a book is the first in a series

Cons

  • None
