Students use criteria developed in class to evaluate which of their own sketches would make the best symbolic sculpture. For this sculpture symbolism lesson, students work in pairs to create a sculpture and define its symbolic meaning. Students may complete Internet research for guidance with symbolism. Students then draw sketches for their individual sculptures and choose a final design, techniques and materials to create sculptures based on their designs.
