Symbolism in Sculpture

Students use criteria developed in class to evaluate which of their own sketches would make the best symbolic sculpture. In this sculpture symbolism instructional activity, students work in pairs to create a sculpture and define its symbolic meaning. Students may complete Internet research for guidance with symbolism. Students then draw sketches for their individual sculptures and choose a final design, techniques and materials to create sculptures based on their designs.
