Second graders investigate symmetric and congruent figures. The class discusses the topics of symmetry and congruent figures. Students choose, based upon their ability, from a list of activities. They may identify lines of symmetry on a butterfly, cut out shapes that are congruent, list items that are symmetrical, create a brochure that explains the concepts, or write songs and poems about symmetry.
