Following the six-step process for a talking sticks literature circle, group members choose a leader for the discussion, summarize the reading, discuss journal entries and questions, set reading goals, and write reflections. I think this approach will engage reluctant learners in small group discussions and temper the overly-eager talkers to balance participation to the discussion. A strong resource for guiding Common Core-oriented collaborative discussion in a variety of contexts.
Literature CirclesBring literature circles to life with a collection of lesson plans, worksheets, and reading lists. Literature circles, or book clubs, are fun and engaging for readers, especially those that don't find reading all that fun. The collection includes ready-made role sheets to distribute to groups, as well as packets designed for specific books. The opportunities are endless with literature circles!3rd - 12th English Language Arts
