Teaching About Peace Through the Cranes of Hiroshima

Students listen to the story of "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes." They discuss the events of Hiroshima, effects of the bombing, and methods people can make a difference in achieving peace in the world. Students use orgami paper and follow directions to create a paper crane. Students brainstorm how they can start a "peace" club at school.

Lesson Planet has been a lifesaver for me, especially when I am in a time crunch and need a resource quickly. While I consider myself a very creative person, sometimes I need to utilize the great ideas of fellow teachers to get my creative juices flowing. Lesson Planet has been pivotal in this regard.
