Clever! Earth science learners construct a model of a planet containing a magnetic core. The planet, Terrabagga, is made out of a paper grocery bag, magnets, a dead D battery, and rubber bands. Pictures of each step of the construction process are included. Once complete, junior geologists, label eight sections on the planet and use a magnetometer in order to identify the North Pole and magnetic field. The one downside to this lesson plan is the need to use an old battery for each model. This lesson plan would be ideal when teaching Earth's characteristics.
