Based off of the hit television show NUMB3RS, this lesson introduces students to a couple applications of matrices. Namely, a competition matrix is manipulated so as to rank included players, squared to see how opponents did, and finally new methods of ranking are discussed. As an extension, similar methods are used to rank college football teams.
