The Appearance of the Moon

Third graders watch a demonstration on how craters were formed on the moon. Individually, they care given a set of materials that represent the moon surface and make their own craters. To end the lesson, they measure the size of the craters and compare it to the measurements of craters in which the rocks were dropped from various heights.

Lesson Planet has become an incredible asset to my teaching. The lessons I have found are well thought out, simple to follow and full of some very creative ideas. I refer to this website quite often and will continue to do so.
