The Appearance of the Moon

Third graders watch a demonstration on how craters were formed on the moon. Individually, they care given a set of materials that represent the moon surface and make their own craters. To end the lesson plan, they measure the size of the craters and compare it to the measurements of craters in which the rocks were dropped from various heights.

Lesson Planet has been fantastic!! I have been able to look at many different lessons based on my chosen theme and then just take the pieces I like and make it my own. It makes life so much easier and I have gleaned some great ideas. Thank you!!
