The Atom Board - Making Atoms

In this atom learning exercise, chemists learn how to determine the number of protons, neutrons and electrons in an atom using the atomic mass and atomic number. They complete a chart of the subatomic particles and use marbles to represent protons, neutrons and electrons of the 11 atoms as they model each. In conclusion, they answer 4 questions about the periodic table. This is a hands-on approach to teaching atomic structure.
