Instructional Ideas

  • After printing and cutting out the words, laminate them so that you can reuse them each year
  • When you add words to the word wall, have kids pick a few and practice using them in speech and writing
  • Rather than posting these up on the wall, create a few sets and have small groups work together to sort the words into various categories

Classroom Considerations

  • These are only words; there are no definitions or other vocabulary exercises included

Pros

  • Provides plenty of words, many of which have more than one meaning and will be unfamiliar to students
  • Words are easy to cut out and pin up

Cons

  • Note that the words are in alphabetical order, not the order in which they show up in the novel
