The Civil War

Although we currently focus on Abraham Lincoln's positive contributions in creating a more equal society, the truth is that Lincoln was actually a controversial character in his time! After studying the Civil War, give your high schoolers the task of identifying three times that Lincoln allowed the Executive Branch of the government to stretch its powers of office. Examples are included, but see what your learners can pull together without your help!
