No one will be saying "Not I" with a lesson that combines The Little Red Hen with the life cycle of a wheat stem! After reading the story in your class, pass out wheat stems to your learners and have them examine the plants closely, including showing them how to thresh the seeds from the rest of the plant. They complete a worksheet about their predictions and observations, as well as a vocabulary matching activity.

Instructional Ideas

  • Create a script out of the story, and have kids act out the parts in front of the class

  • Have kids write about a time when they didn't want to do a chore at home
Classroom Considerations
