Little learners examine a map of the southwestern United States and identify the Sonoran Desert. They locate different cities and rivers, determining whether or not each is found within this special ecosystem. A student handout is provided for reading about the plants and animals and the behavior of water in the desert. Extension suggestions include having young ecologists write a story about a desert storm or adding details to their maps. The handouts are nice but the lesson is lacking.
