The storming of The Bastille July 14. 1789 (Part 3/3)

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Governor de Laurnay surrenders, and the Bastille falls to the commoners. The crowd in the streets responds by killing him. King Louis was out hunting when he received the news and merely wrote in his hunting journal one word: "Nothing." The Bastille was torn down and four years later the monarchy was overthrown.
