Tides in the Hudson

Young scholars view an illustration of the Hudson River watershed and identify the bodies of water shown. They discuss what happens when fresh and salt water mix. Students view a teacher demonstration of the stratification of fresh and salt water. They receive data showing the salinity levels at West Point on the Hudson River and graph it. Young scholars discuss reasons for the difference in salinity levels.
