Traits that Foster Success

Young scholars read literature in order to identify traits that are exemplified by strong characteristics that foster their own success or the success of others. They generate a list of traits that facilitate success, such as tolerance, respect, and integrity. Students also use various picture books where characters demonstrate traits of success and photocopied covers of the literature. Finally, they create their own covers on poster board.

After 28 years of teaching English, I signed up to teach grade nine art. My school only has 15 teachers and the students were losing out on opportunities to explore their creativity. Having access to the lessons on Lesson Planet has helped me to cover the curriculum while having fun with all the different ways of teaching the subject. To say this site is a blessing is an understatement!
