Instructional Ideas

  • Have individuals interview high schoolers they know to gain firsthand insight into the transition
  • Provide sample course schedules for ninth grade to help learners form academic transition plans

Classroom Considerations

  • Be sure to group pupils based upon the high school they will be attending; if a large number will be going to the same high school, create pairs or triads from the larger group

Pros

  • The lesson is ideal for all eighth graders preparing to begin their high school years
  • A short but focused Transition Action Plan worksheet is a great method to keep students focused on positive forward steps

Cons

  • None
