Using Maps to Inspire Personal Narratives

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

A solid description of one way to teach narrative writing, this resource outlines the writing process from concept to completion. Class members create concept maps of moments in their lives and follow the writing process to publish their narratives. The teacher models each step of the activity, including writing, drawing pictures to go along with the writing, and revising. Titles of possible mentor texts for examination are provided.
