What Are Grains?

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

This activity is like having a show-and-tell. Bring in lots of items, or packaging, from the grain group. Bread, rice, cracker, cereal, oats, you get the idea. Perhaps first start by checking in and asking what the class knows about grains, naming some grains, or naming items that are made from grains. Then show the variety of items from the grain group. Finally, let them sample foods with grains, perhaps bringing in items that are not typical to their diet.
