Whirlybirds

Students measure to the nearest centimeter, and predict the frequency of an event. In this statistics lesson, students participate in a simulation of a parachute jump competition by making paper Whirlybirds, and then dropping them towards a target on the floor. They measure the distance from the point where the Whirlybird lands to the target in centimeter intervals. They analyze the data to determine the frequency of a parachutist hitting a target.

Lynne S.
I'm a private tutor, and Lesson Planet helps me gather materials quickly on specific topics in different grade levels that I can adapt for one-on-one tutoring. Some of my students are ADHD, and I really appreciate it when I find lessons on the same concept taught in different ways. If one way doesn't quite work, very often I find another that works much better.
