In this lesson, the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, is used to get students to explore point of view and issues related voice in writing and social justice. This lesson requires the students to analyze and discuss the different perspectives of Atticus Finch and the lynch mob as this pertains to the trial of Tom Robinson. Each student will then create two characters with opposing viewpoints. The final product will be a "Poem for Two Voices" in which the student shows the opposing views of the two characters they have created. [Requires Adobe Reader.]
