Writing Fix: Racetrack Sentences

Curated by ACT

In this lesson, The Berenstain Bears and the Big Road Race, written by Stan Berenstain, is used as a mentor text. Young scholars will record their favorite adjectives from the mentor text, rank them according to their favorite, and share them. Students will also use interactive buttons to generate noun, adjective, verb phrase, and adverb combinations that they enjoy most. Then young scholars must use this newly generated sentence and "hide it" in the context of a previously-written longer piece. [Requires Adobe Reader.]
