Students use Internet research to determine the amount of carbon dioxide produced per unit energy for biomass and coal. For this alternative energy lesson, students research to find out how much energy and carbon dioxide several coal and biomass power plants produce. They record their research into a spreadsheet and use statistical analyses to determine if biomass burning produces fewer greenhouse gases than coal burning.

Lesson Planet has been awesome to me. As a 1st year teacher I often spend so much time planning and researching materials that could help my students/classes learn. Lesson Planet has given me great access to emergency lesson plans and activities, video clips, and many more unit ideas to succeed.
