TeachEngineering: Android Acceleration Application
Introduce young engineers to the software development design process used in app building. After watching a video tutorial, groups are challenged to build an accelerometer app for an Android device and design an app utilizing the GPS location. The class then learns about the different types of acceleration, the mathematical formulas to determine acceleration, and how to determine it from a graph. To demonstrate what they have learned, groups use rubber bands to accelerate an Android device along a track of books. They collect the acceleration data and analyze it to determine the device's velocity.
