Mathematics Assessment Project
Evaluating Statements about Probability
Learners first complete an assessment task where they assess statements on probability. They then sort cards containing probability statements as being either true or false.
Curated OER
What is a P-value?
Students test the hypotheses using p values. In this statistics instructional activity, students define and examine conditional probability. They test each statement for a true statement or a false statement, based on the sample size.

Using Function Notation II
Learners write an example to show a function statement true and another to show it false in this short task that addresses some common student misconceptions.
TryEngineering
Boolean Algebra is Elementary
See how Boolean algebra relates to video games with a lesson that teaches young scholars how to use Boolean algebra to create rules for a virtual world. They test the rule base for consistency in groups.
Illustrative Mathematics
Above and below sea level
Using the real-world example of elevation, above or below sea level, young mathematicians interpret expressions using negative signs, and absolute value. This task provides a good opportunity to discuss the notion of magnitude and...

Proving Trigonometric Identities
Young mathematicians first learn the basics of proving trigonometric identities. They then practice this skill on several examples.

Solution Sets of Two or More Equations (or Inequalities) Joined by “And” or “Or”
English and math have more in common than you think. Make a connection between a compound sentence and a compound inequality with an activity that teaches learners the difference between an "and" and "or" inequality through solutions...
Curated OER
Coordinate Plane
Tenth graders plot points on a coordinate plane. In this geometry lesson, 10th graders identify the different quadrants, plots points on a number line and coordinate plane and solve for the midpoint of line segments.
Curated OER
Extreme Flashlight Tag
Fifth graders view a Powerpoint show about reflecting light. They experiment through a reflection simulation on the internet. Students complete the activity by using mirrors and light to complete send light to a specified spot.
Curated OER
Making Money Work For You
Students differentiate between saving and investing money. In this algebra activity, students compare different investment options, recognizing the risks and rewards of investing and integrate investing into their financial planning.
Curated OER
Generalizations: How Accurate Are they?
Work together to evaluate the accuracy of generalizations. Examine the effects of cultural stereotyping based on generalizations. Students will engage in a class discussion aimed at answering the question, "What are some ways we can...
