Students identify the structures of the federal government. They complete a diagram of the structures to show their relationships. They research the names of the major players on the structure, in particular, students own representatives.

Students explore the basic functions of Canadian government, who is responsible for each function and where the officials associated with each function work.

Tenth graders research one aspect of government. They teach their peers co-operatively about the key elements of Democracy in Canada at the Federal Level by giving group presentations.

Ninth graders explain the relationship of the Cabinet within the Canadian Government structure through video, worksheets and spreadsheets.

Students brainstorm ideas for legislation and present their ideas to the class. They draft a bill and take it through the normal procedures of the Canadian Parliament.
