Students explain some of the symbols of Kwanzaa. They demonstrate their understanding of Kwanzaa by making a book about what they have learned.

Second graders read Stellaluna, by Janel Cannon, 2nd graders classify selected animals into two groups, (1) Mammals as in the bat, Stellaluna and (2) birds.

Second graders write a Math Moments journal.

Students examine and identify polyhedron shapes on a math website. They write journal reflections about two- and three-dimensional shapes, and transform a square into a pinwheel.

Second graders explore the basic concepts of economics through a puppet called Eco the Gecko.

Second graders explore Native Americans through a PowerPoint presentation.

Fourth graders use internet cites to explore the Underground Railroad. They also learn the importance of the Emancipation Proclamation. Focus questions are included.

Seventh graders listen to, recite, and research African folktales. They research African artwork to add to their original folk tales which they write.

Learners, after listening to book called People, by Peter Spier, discuss what are some things that make people different.

Fourth graders explore Internet sites about Colonial America, and create multimedia presentations.
