Students review the terms plot, setting, and characters and examine how all of these elements are needed to make a story. They are given parts of stories and they try to identify all of those parts of the story.

Students review the five senses with the teacher. They are given a set of pictures and while the teacher reads a story, they are to hold up the correct picture of which sense the character is using.

Students receive a musical instrument of the orchestra and the family it belongs to. They run when the teacher calls either the instrument or the family.

Students read the novel The Giver and complete six tasks. They identify vocabulary that they did not recongize, create a different ending for the book, produce character cards and pick important events and objects from the novel.

Students practice naming various features or parts of their bodies using similes and vivid adjectives. The format is extended to poetic expressions as they develop a self-portrait and extend the creative experience through art.

Young scholars create a life map of their life. They start the activity with a question from the teacher and expand on it. They can share their life maps with the class if they so choose.
