Concepts

william shakespeare, as you like it, literary analysis, comedy, soliloquies

Instructional Ideas

  • To keep the various characters and their relationships straight, divide the class into groups, assign each a different character, and have them create a poster that includes an illustration, names(s), and key details; have groups then attach strings to posters of other characters that reveal their relationships

Classroom Considerations

  • None of the film versions are particularly inspired; however, the BBC Shakespeare version is worth a look, as you may like some of the key scenes

Pros

  • The 19-page guide includes scene-by-scene plot summaries, links to sites that provide background information on Shakespeare and the play, pre-reading, during-reading, and post-reading activities, discussion questions, and project ideas

Cons

  • None
