High schoolers enrolled in resource and special needs classes learn and practice how to schedule and conduct a self-advocacy meeting with a teacher to request accommodations in that subject area class. In lesson one they review and discuss procedures developed in previous units and contact the classroom teacher to schedule the meeting. In lessons two learners give an oral presentation describing the meeting and results. A final whole-class discussion focuses on how to improve self-advocacy skills.
