Alliteration Worksheet

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Learners love literary lyrics! Practice alliteration with an activity that encourages kids to find a line of alliteration for every letter of the alphabet. After they finish, they can create a line of their own alliteration and explain why their example shows alliteration.

Instructional Ideas

  • Include in your unit about figurative language and poetic elements
  • Have kids use the lines they come up with in a freestyle poem, reordering the stanzas as they wish
  • See who can come up with the longest example of continuous alliteration
  • Encourage inspired writers to exchange the given adjectives for their own ideas

Classroom Considerations

  • You'll need to provide more support for the section where kids create their own alliteration
  • The language for the last question may be a little advanced for younger learners, but they could still complete it with some rewording

Pros

  • Provides an adjective for each letter so that kids only need to think of a matching noun
  • A straightforward activity to either introduce or review alliteration

Cons

  • None
