An Introduction to Law

With so many different types of law, it can be difficult for learners to discern which is which! Use a newspaper to give tangible examples of various types of law, including criminal, civil, consumer, family, local, state, federal and international. After a short briefing on each, groups read local media articles, analyzing for which type of law is described. Encourage attention to small print in advertisements and make it fun by having groups compete to find all the types!

Lesson Planet helps me find fantastic ideas to spin off of and approach with my alternative education high school students. They can be difficult to motivate and sometimes when I'm just out of ideas- this site gives me just what I need to add to motivate them!
