Are Gay Rights "Special"?

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Inspire critical thinking with this activity, which prompts students to compare lesbian, gat, bisexual, and transgender rights with the rights guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. By collecting topical articles about LGBT rights, students examine which rights are being denied, demanded, or respected, leading to a discussion about what rights are truly protected throughout the world. The discussion can be worthwhile in a mature and open-minded class.
