How are bar graphs and pictographs different? As you begin this concept, use these simple graphs to help get learners started with data analysis styles. There is one bar graph and one pictograph, each accompanied by four or five comprehension questions (nine in total). The questions require basic graph-reading skills and don't require any approximating of values. After reviewing the learning exercise, consider comparing these two types by graphing a class poll as a bar graph and pictograph. Which one is more effective, according to the class? Could they be used for different purposes?
