Calculating Stride Length

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

How many steps does one take to walk a mile? The number of steps one walks in a mile would definitely depend on the length of his stride. Shorter people may take shorter strides, and taller people may take longer strides. This activity and the included worksheets will help learners to calculate individual stride length. Use this information to properly program a pedometer. Attach the pedometer and start walking. The pedometer will be able to track the number of steps one takes, as well as, the distance covered, and even the calories used.
