Have your class demonstrate their ability to compare fractions with this short multiple-choice assessment. Using the fractions 9/8 and 9/4, the students first make comparisons using both words and the greater than/less than signs. Next, young mathematicians select which of two number lines correctly labels the pair of fractions. Experience working with improper fractions is required for success on this assessment, so be sure your class is prepared. Encourage learners to draw pictures or models of the fractions to support their comparisons.
