Determining the Enthalpy Change of a Reaction

In this enthalpy of reactions worksheet, students use a known amount of copper (II) sulphate solution and an excess of zinc powder to calculate the enthalpy change of the reaction. Students measure the temperature change over the course of the reaction, plot their data, extrapolate the curve back to 3 minutes for when the zinc was added to the solution and calculate the enthalpy change using the data for reaction.

Lesson Planet has helped me with my lesson plans as a student teacher. There are so many creative lesson plans available which is a huge help to someone like me who has very little experience at this point in time and I am in need of ideas and activities to help get me started in the classroom.
