Use money to practice basic division concepts with young scholars. Each of the seven problems has a set of coins and three empty purses. They add up the coins for a total value and fill in a blank division number sentence to demonstrate how they could evenly divide the total into the three purses. They draw the coins inside the purses for each problem. Although the directions suggest drawing all one-cent coins for simplicity, consider challenging scholars to use larger coins if possible (for example, if the total is 15 cents they could draw a nickel in each bag instead of five pennies).
