Emotions/Feelings

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Three lessons delve deep into the topic of feelings and the importance of expressing one's emotions. Through grand conversation, hands-on learning experiences, and reflective writing, scholars interpret the ups and downs of everyday happenings, create a powerful visual that words are powerful, and use a balloon to signify stress.

Instructional Ideas

  • Instead of grouping learners by age—group by language proficiency, heterogeneously to encourage language development during a discussion
  • Revisit lessons anytime your class is in need of behavior support
  • Send a letter home to parents and guardians detailing the lessons' subjects, including ways they can extend the learning experience alongside talking points

Classroom Considerations

  • The duration is the total amount of time it takes to complete all three lessons—complete each lesson on a single day or space them out over the course or two to three days
  • Lessons were created for an all-girl audience; however, males can participate as well
  • Be sensitive towards individuals who may not feel comfortable speaking openly or may feel sad

Pros

  • Includes activities to extend the learning experience
  • Lesson two provides a lasting visual reminder to be kind
  • Stress management techniques can be used in and outside the classroom

Cons

  • None
