Islamic Art; Exploring the Visual Arts of the Middle East

The intent of this unit is to demonstrate some of the traditional arts of the Middle East. Extensive background information on the religion, culture, and nature of Islamic art found throughout the Middle East is provided. Each of the four lessons focuses on a different type of art commonly found throughout the region: carpet weaving, metal work, calligraphy, and painting. Hands on projects can be adapted to any classroom level, but are specifically geared towards those in the fifth through eighth grades.

Reginald W.
I was at a crossroads trying to think of a new… interesting… active way to introduce and teach the different types of economic systems. I turned to Lesson Planet and entered “Economic Systems” into the search tab and was inundated with resources and lesson plans and ideas… the kids loved the lesson I modified for them and still ask when we are going to do another lesson like that “Paper Airplane Company” one. Thanks Lesson Planet.
