Nature Walk: Extra Support Lessons (Theme 2)

Reinforce concepts such as long vowels, spelling patterns, sound clusters, double-final consonants, and syllables with a nature-themed unit. Through a series of extra support lessons, learners compare and contrast using a Venn diagram, blend phonemes, read and write different types of sentences, identify fact and opinion statements, work on high frequency words, and categorize and classify.

  • Take a field trip to a nearby park to observe the environment you've been studying in class
  • Invite a park ranger to speak to the class about his or her profession
Classroom Considerations

  • Modifications are necessary to conduct lessons that require missing curriculum-specific materials
