Parallels and Distance
In this parallels and distance instructional activity, 10th graders solve 8 problems related to parallels of lines and the distance between each line. First, they draw the segment that represents the distance indicated in each figure. Then, students graph each equation and plot the given ordered pair and construct a perpendicular segment to find the distance from point to the line. Finally, they name the segment whose length represents the distance between each point and line on the figure.
