Philanthropy and You

Students identify human rights and study the values of historical figures who fought for human rights. In this human rights lesson plan, students define the term human rights and research examples of human mistreatment in history. Students study American explorer Bartolome' de Las Casas and his cause for human rights. Students complete a 'how would you feel' worksheet, and read short stories of human rights figures. Students create a character web for a historical person and a poster.
